According to reports, Arsenal is still pushing for the signing of a Leicester midfielder, even though they have already completed the signing of Fabio Vieira. According to The Evening Standard, Fabio Vieira’s impending arrival has not changed Arsenal’s plans of pushing ahead with Leicester midfielder Youri Tielemans’s contract. Arsenal is still working out a deal with Belgian international midfielder Youri Tielemans from Leicester City, waiting on the formal offer, whilst the agreement with Fabio Vieira is set to be signed within the next few hours.
Arsenal reached a deal with Porto for Fabio Vieiras PS30million move earlier this week. The profile came just moments after Porto confirmed that Arsenal had agreed on Friday to move Arsenal transfer target Fabio Vieira to permanent terms, in a deal that would cost a total of PS34million, including the potential for PS5million in bonuses. The good news for fans at the Emirates is that Vieira’s arrival does not necessarily put a foot in the door of the Tielemans deal, with both players playing significantly different roles.
Arsenal has recently agreed to a deal with Porto for Fabio Vieira. In contrast, Tottenham has sealed the services of Brighton midfielder Yves Bissouma, casting doubt over the possibility of moving on from Youri Tielemans. However, it was thought, up until early today, Arsenal was still going to insist on a move involving Belgium international midfielder Youri Tielemans, despite completing a deal for Vieira, but this perception has been completely put to bed, despite reports coming from the likes of Fabrizio Romano. Leicester City midfielder Youri Tielemans has a year remaining on his current contract at the King Power Stadium. While he initially expressed his desire to play in the Champions League, Arsenal is still confident in securing a deal with the player. Youri Tielemans is set to have only 12 months remaining on his Leicester City contract come to the summer transfer window, which has seen his name linked with Arsenal and Tottenham since late last season.
Youri Tielemans has played a part more than once in the club’s successive run towards Champions League football while also scoring the winning goal at Wembley to ensure Leicester’s first FA Cup victory over Chelsea. A potential one-year contract extension has been reported as a possibility for Youri Tielemans; however, reports suggest that the deal will have to wait until a club comes calling for Tielemans at the summer transfer window’s conclusion in early September. As an alternative, due to a lack of suitors signalling for Youri Tielemans, Arsenal is focused on getting other acquisitions down the track, though the deal could come back later.
